I am Me

I am me and only me,

When you see me look at my individuality.

Don’t judge me by my community,

Don’t speculate according to my country,

Don’t hear me by the language that I speak,

Don’t hate me for the religion I choose to seek.

I am not defined by the color of my skin,

But that is how this world has always been.

It doesn’t matter if I am dark or light,

How does it matter if my skin is black or white?

When you see me, look beyond the colour you see,

Inside we are as similar as can be.

I am not defined by the religion I choose,

How I seek God should not be an excuse for abuse.

No matter how different our prayers may be,

We just want to connect with that power supreme.

The goal is same though our paths differ,

Why is that a reason to be so bitter?

I am not defined by the language I speak,

Not speaking your language doesn’t make me weak.

Our countries may be different as our language is,

Tomorrow it will be the same for our kids.

Do you really want to teach them about discrimination,

On the basis of language and nation?

I am me and only me,

When you see me look at my individuality.

I don’t belong to any religion, caste, country or creed,

I am only defined by my own deeds.

I am a human first and everything else follows behind,

When you accept this, you will truly accept mankind.
